Tax Invoice
What makes it valid
The seven things an AU tax invoice needs.
For a sale under $1,000, the ATO requires a tax invoice to show seven things. Any template you use — including this one — has to carry all of them. Solebooks fills them in for you automatically.
- 1The words “Tax invoice”, stated clearly
- 2Your identity (your name or business name)
- 3Your ABN
- 4The date the invoice was issued
- 5A brief description of what you sold — quantity and price
- 6The GST amount (or a line stating the total includes GST)
- 7The extent to which each item is taxable for GST
For a sale of $1,000 or more, the ATO also requires the buyer’s identity or ABN. Solebooks goes a step further and asks for the ABN on invoices to a business buyer at $1,000 or more, so your records hold up either way. You only label a document a “tax invoice” if you’re registered for GST — below the $75,000 turnover threshold that’s optional.

The faster way
Skip the template. Describe the job.
A blank template still means typing every line, working out the GST, and checking the wording. Solebooks turns one sentence into a compliant draft — you review and send.
Charge Bayside $680 for 8 hours decking plus $124 materials, net 14.
The AI drafts; you decide. GST and totals are computed by Solebooks, not the AI — and nothing sends until you review it.
